Trakai Castle Lithuania Postcard
The postcard is of Trakai Castle in Lithuania. The card, however, is from 1988 when the country was still part of the USSR. The name of Trakai was first mentioned in Teutonic Knights chronicles in 1337 and this is considered to be the official date of the town's foundation.
Lithuania became an independent state on the 11th of March 1990 - which was a year prior to the break-up of the Soviet Union.
