A 1980s postcard of Whitby, North Yorkshire with the picture taken from the Upper Bridge. The seaside town is situated on the east coast of Yorkshire at the mouth of the River Esk. Whitby has a combined maritime, mineral and tourist heritage, and is home to the ruins of Whitby Abbey where Caedmon, the earliest English poet, lived.

Back to England again today with a postcard showing a photo of Caversham Bridge, Reading, Berkshire. The bridge crosses the River Thames as it makes it's way to London.

The first known bridge at this location was built between 1163 and 1231 and the present bridge was opened in 1926 by Edward Prince of Wales.
